Facade rehabilitation and window replacement

Place Ville-Marie (PVM) and its buildings have heritage value as a "building of interest" in downtown Montreal. The major revitalization and repositioning project to revitalize the downtown area required the input of several architectural and engineering firms and a host of

professionals. The project includes a complete renovation and partial modification of the facades of 2, 3 and 4 PVM, the transformation of the esplanade and shopping arcade, and the installation of a monumental staircase from McGill Collège.

COHESIO Architecture worked on modifying the facades and replacing the stone and fenestration on the facades of 2, 3 and 4 PVM. The PVM building refurbishment project had many interfaces with the esplanade revitalization project. The broad outlines of the repositioning project had been mapped out, but the construction management project required the production of concepts and technical details, and coordination in fast-track mode. With the exception of the

entrances, the technical solutions developed had to maintain the building's original appearance.

We collaborated with the project team made up of Sid Lee, MSDL, NCK, BPA and Pomerleau to produce the technical documents needed to implement the conceptual intentions developed by these firms.

As a result, new façade areas and access routes from the esplanade and adjacent streets were designed and built, updating the route to the modern buildings. The project was subjected to a very tight construction schedule, given the quantity and complexity of the interventions involved in the critical path of several stages of the repositioning project.
