L'Anneau is part of Ivanhoé Cambridge's initiative to reposition Place Ville-Marie as an emblematic urban gathering place at the heart of Montréal. This ambitious project contributes to revitalizing the downtown core and creating a public space that encourages interaction and cultural expression.
Designed by landscape architect Claude Cormier, L'Anneau is both an artistic installation and a symbolic landmark for the city. Suspended above the space between buildings 3 and 4 of Place Ville-Marie, the circular structure offers a unique visual perspective toward Mount Royal. The work reflects Montréal's creativity, craftsmanship and spirit of innovation.
COHESIO Architecture supported the design team in bringing this vision to life and oversaw the execution of the work. The interventions enabled the precise anchoring of the structure to the existing buildings and the installation of an integrated lighting system, all without compromising the waterproofing or structural integrity of the buildings.
Through exemplary collaboration and rigorous coordination among the project teams, L'Anneau came to fruition while respecting both the conceptual intentions and the constraints of the site, becoming a powerful visual landmark in downtown Montréal.
