Adjacent to the Anna-Laberge Hospital, Phase II of the Centre de santé Desjardins in Châteauguay involved the construction of a professional office and outpatient clinic complex. This new building continues the development of the original facility in order to respond to the growing demand for the hospital’s outpatient services.
Designed by COHESIO Architecture, Phase II draws inspiration from the architectural language of Phase I to ensure a natural and harmonious extension of the health centre. The façade rhythm of the existing building was adopted and reinterpreted to ensure visual and functional continuity between the two volumes. Particular attention was given to the connection between the original building and the new expansion, notably due to the mixed uses within the complex.
The project was carried out under a design-build mandate, and the team demonstrated its ability to organize clear and secure access routes to specific areas while maintaining the smooth circulation of patients, staff and visitors.
Regulatory complexity and the integration of the normative requirements associated with healthcare facilities were addressed through the implementation of a dynamic regulatory analysis table that was updated throughout the design process. This tool proved essential in maintaining the project’s compliance.
