COOPSCO of Rosemont College
As part of a major project to transform the former Rosemont College swimming pool, COHÉSIO designed and built a new student store, adding to other spaces that create a hub for both students and the surrounding community. The store, part of the COOPSCO network, was designed to skillfully blend functionality and aesthetics. The different sections are clearly defined, and the store offers a welcoming and practical environment, perfectly reflecting the vision that Rosemont College wished to create.

Project type: Transformation, rehabilitation and reintegration of the built environment
Services: Preliminary studies, design and site supervision (phases concerned)

Located at the corner of 16th Avenue and Beaubien Street, Collège de Rosemont sought to restore the prominence of its pool pavilion. The objective was to transform an imposing, opaque and windowless block into an open space filled with natural light and connected to the outdoors.
COHESIO Architecture worked closely with the College’s Department of Material Resources, remaining attentive to its needs while taking budgetary considerations into account.
The project was divided into several phases, and the mandate entrusted to COHESIO Architecture covered multiple stages including programming, the design of the various spaces and the production of preliminary sketches. This was followed by the demolition of the existing pool and the construction of two new floors, one of which is suspended within the 27-foot-high volume of the space.
The redevelopment of the ground floor, which now houses the COOPSCO store and a student café, officially marked the firm’s contribution to the development of Collège de Rosemont’s innovation hub.
