In order to provide its employees with a modern and high-performance workplace, the Shell Refinery in Montréal-Est commissioned the construction of two new integrated buildings combining administrative offices, a gym and locker rooms. Built on a greenfield site in Montréal, this ambitious project highlights a durable, luminous and highly functional architectural approach.
The new administrative building, with a total area of 65,000 sq.ft., offers workspaces designed for employee comfort and efficiency. Designed by COHESIO Architecture, the building is certified LEED Silver©. The mandate included the complete realization of the building, interior layout and furniture design. The architectural concept prioritizes functionality, abundant natural light and a warm atmosphere, ensuring that each employee benefits from direct access to daylight.
Extending from the main building, the gym and locker room facility integrates harmoniously with the complex. Connected by a walkway, it covers an area of approximately 15,500 sq.ft. The building stands out through the use of large steel structures and an interior organization adapted to the needs of men, women, operators and maintenance staff.
The mandate entrusted to COHESIO Architecture covered all project stages, from functional programming to furniture design, including interior layout. Both buildings were delivered under a construction management framework, allowing the simultaneous development of design documents and construction activities, while ensuring better cost control.
Now housing offices for the City of Montréal, this project demonstrates how well-conceived architecture can combine performance, efficiency and quality of use.
