Forillon Park

New Operational Center

Forillon National Park's Operational Center consisted of 14 permanent buildings and 2 temporary buildings. Due to the obsolescence of several of its buildings, the Parks Canada Agency called on the COHESIO Architecture (formerly JBC Architectes) / STGM consortium to

rehabilitate the site. The initial idea was to refurbish the existing Operations Center to improve its operational and energy efficiency, as well as making access easier and safer.

The project, which began in December 2016, took place in multiple stages. As a first step, inspections and surveys were carried out on six of the buildings to assess their condition and determine the potential and feasibility of the planned work, both in terms of schedule and

budget. Following the inspections and surveys, recommendations on the nature of the work required to ensure the site's long-term survival were presented to the customer. It has been shown that the most appropriate solution is reconstruction.

The new operations center comprises three buildings: the new administrative center, an industrial building and a secondary building for tool storage and vehicle parking. The administrative center includes office space, as well as meeting and training rooms, showers, kitchens and a reception area for park visitors. The industrial building is mainly used to store site maintenance equipment, and also includes a store and repair workshop.
